Summary:

Ashera del Cid is a talented demon hunter, but when she kills a demigod's pet dragon, the hunter becomes the hunted. Her only potential ally is Ramiel, a sexy-as-hell demon. Now the two must work together to battle dragons and demigods…and the chemistry crackling between them. Ramiel has his own reasons for offering Ashera his protection. He knows her true identity and the real reason the demigods want her dead. What he can't predict is how she'll react when she discovers he knew who she was all along...
Ashera is shocked to discover that she is the only daughter of the last slayer. To claim her destiny, she and Ramiel must join forces to face down danger and outwit their enemies. Only then will she be able to truly accept her legacy...

My thoughts:

I´ve been searching for a series that makes my heart race and ache at the same time. With The Heartstone trilogy I found my match! The Last Slayer is a wonderful paranormal book with enough wit and sexyness to win me over.

Ashera is not your average heroine. Her lack of beauty has strengthened her will to be better than anybody else. She succeeded. Ashera is the most feared Demon Hunter in the whole region and respected by every other fellow Hunter.
But her world is put upside-down when she discovers that she is the daughter of the last Slayer and a dragonlady. This fact makes her a target and soon she finds herself hunted by dragonlords, who will do anything to see her dead.
Only Ramiel -a dragonlord himself- helps her survive and urges her on to claim her dragonhold.
Ashera begins to trust Ramiel and she is slowly losing her heart to him, but then she finds out why Ramiel is truly helping her and this may shatter her world all over again...

*Takes a deep breath* Lee created a unique world that she describes so beautifully and detailed that I could envision every single setting. I still have a very clear picture of Ramiel´s dragonhold in my head and by now I wished I´d live in the same world.

Ashera is the perfect kick-ass-heroine. Even though she is somewhat described as an ugly duckling at first, I found her extremely sexy because of her confidence and power. She was adopted as a child and grew up with her beautiful step-sister Valerie, who is another great character in this fantastic story.
As the story progresses Ashera´s appearance changes and suddenly she is no longer the ugly duckling, but a beautiful swan. I found it interesting to see which price you have to pay when you´re stunningly beautiful. I was happy for Ashera, but sad at the same time, because I felt like I had lost something. Or maybe I was simply so into the story that I felt what Ashera felt when she had to deal with the major change.

Ramiel and Ashera make an awesome couple, but their relationship bugged the hell out of me(in a positive way)! It is so twisted and full of mystery, which made me love this story so much more. I normally read about two people who are abviously in love with each other (and denying it, of course). Lee created a story in which both characters and readers do not know if it is love or lust, or maybe both.
I am really curious where Lee is taking this series and I absolutely recommend it to people who like dragons, demons and sexyness!
